Carved Antique Daybed RailJiangsu, circa 1860 This intricately carved panel is part of an antique daybed from the city of Nanjing, Jiangsu province. It would have formed the back rail, with similar rails at either side. The panel boasts a stunning relief carving showing scenes of court visitors in the central section. When combined with the two side rails, the the full scene portrays a classic episode from Chinese history. The level of skill required to create the panels, all
